About Libre Jiu Jitsu

Libre Jiu Jitsu

About Us

Libre Jiu Jitsu is a Farmers Branch school where hard work meets culture and community. We believe progress should be rewarding, so we focus on both the journey and the results. Our professors take time to explain the details, encourage questions, and help students understand not just the how, but also the why of every technique. We use a step-by-step, constraint-led approach that builds confidence and skill on and off the mats.

Whether it’s kids, adults, or women’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, our training is grounded in the pure lessons of Jiu Jitsu and supported by a focused detailed curriculum. At Libre, we put ourselves in our students’ shoes and give them the tools to succeed. Join us for a complete Brazilian Jiu Jitsu experience for you and your family.

History

Omar Agado has fulfilled a lifelong passion by opening Libre Jiu Jitsu in late 2025. After nearly two decades on the mat, Omar is now leading his own Jiu Jitsu school in Farmers Branch. He had been providing private lessons for adults and kids for years, and now has a school for everyone to train together. Throughout the years, Jiu Jitsu has helped Omar stay calm under high pressure situations and handle them. He hopes to help his students do the same and reach their full potential through Jiu Jitsu classes.

FAQ’s

On our website, you can find the link to sign up for our free trial week on the membership tab – FREE TRIAL

Your free trial includes a full week of classes with no restrictions. You can jump into any class on the schedule, kids, adults, women’s, whatever works best for you.

Not at all. Every single person on the mat started with zero experience. Your first class is designed around the assumption that you know nothing, and that’s completely fine. You’ll be guided through everything step by step.

You don’t need to own a gi for your first class. A fitted athletic shirt and athletic shorts will work fine. Avoid anything baggy or with metal hardware since that can catch fingers and toes during training. If you end up joining, you’ll eventually want to pick up a GI, NoGi shorts and rashguard, but there’s no need to buy anything before you try it.

Show up about 10 to 15 minutes early and let the front desk or coach know it’s your first class. You’ll sign a waiver, get introduced to the instructor, and someone will be assigned to help you through the class. The session itself covers a warm-up, a technique demonstration, and some cooperative drilling with a partner. Nobody throws you into the deep end on day one.

A water bottle, a small towel, a dry change of clothes for after, and sandals or flip flops to wear off the mat. That’s really all you need to start.

Absolutely. Jiu-Jitsu is one of the few martial arts where technique and leverage matter more than size, strength, or age. Plenty of people start in their 40s and 50s and train well into their 60s and beyond. You adjust the intensity to match where your body is, and the ground-based nature of it is easier on the joints than high-impact sports. Many longtime practitioners say it keeps them moving and feeling better than anything else they’ve tried.

Yes, on two levels. First, jiu-jitsu is specifically the art of controlling close-range physical situations without throwing a punch, which is exactly what bullying looks like in real life. Second, and just as important, the confidence kids build from consistent training changes how they carry themselves. Bullies tend to target kids who look unsure of themselves, and that posture shifts noticeably after a few months of training.
